My Grandmother Snively's Scalloped Oysters

Ingredients

1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 cup cracker crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1 pint oysters
4 tablespoons oyster liquor
2 tablespoons milk or cream
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

In a medium bowl, mix together bread and cracker crumbs, then stir in melted butter. Put a thin layer of crumbs in bottom of a buttered 8x8-inch baking dish. Cover with half of the oysters. Season with salt and pepper. Mix oyster liquor and milk or cream together in a separate small bowl. Pour half of this liquid mixture over the oysters. Repeat with the remaining crumbs, oysters and liquid. Never allow more than two layers of oysters. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
