Result: The Quad Cities River Bandits dropped their three-game series finale to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers after a 9-1 loss at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis., on Wednesday.
How it happened: Wisconsin broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run sixth. This followed Chase Davidson's game-tying homer in the Bandits' half of the inning. The Timber Rattlers added three more runs in the eighth, handing QC its third loss in five games.
On the mound: Colton Cain could not last an inning, allowing five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Cain followed Mike Hauschild, who surrendered an unearned run in five innings, in the "piggyback" system. Gera Sanchez pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits.
At the plate: Davidson belted his first home run on the season, completing a 2-for-4 day. Terrell Joyce added a double. The Bandits had five hits and struck out eight times.
Worth noting: QC committed two errors and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. ... The Bandits announced Monday's 11 a.m. contest against the Great Lakes Loons will be "Beat the Flood" Day at Modern Woodmen Park. Admission is free to the game and gates will open 90 minutes prior to first pitch.
