Saturday: Geneseo is off.

Lineups: Sterling: G Cornell Hartz, 5-7 Sr. (2.4 ppg., 1.0 rpg.); G Zach Rehmert, 6-2, Jr. (11.8, 1.6); G Tre Whittaker, 6-2 Sr. (4.8, 4.8); F Zack Everett, 6-2 Sr. (5.6, 5.6); F Chase Shetter, 6-0 Sr. (2.4, 3.4). Geneseo: G Jordan Starkey, 5-9 Sr. (17.3 ppg., 4.0 rpg.); G Ethan Radue, 5-10 Jr. (14.7, 1.7); G Luke Snyder, 5-11 Jr. (5.0, 5.3); F Nathan Yager, 6-2 Sr. (2.0, 4.7); F Austin Frank, 6-7 Sr. (9.3, 8.3).

Why watch: The Leafs are a perfect 3-0 and looking to knockoff one of the conference favorites right off the bat. Geneseo coach Brad Storm went and scouted the Golden Warriors last week, and had an assistant coach record another game, so the Leafs have done their homework. ... Sterling runs a "Grinnell-style" offense, where the Warriors will be making line-change style substitutions throughout the night under first-year head coach Jim Preston. Sterling is off to a 3-2 start, but has played without top scorer Zach Rehmert at 100-percent. Rehmert's almost there and will be on the court most of the night for Sterling. ... The Golden Warriors lost to Princeton and Rock Falls in their opening Sauk Valley Shootout. ... The Leafs are looking to keep making believers after winning their Thanksgiving Tournament, but that was just the first step. If they want to be legitimate Northern Illinois Big 12 West title contenders, Friday night will be very important, as will next week's matchup with Ottawa.

Geneseo's Storm: "I think it's good the kids are coming in confident, but they know everyone is predicting Sterling and Ottawa to battle for the title. We'll find out right away where we're at in the conference. If we win both, we're in the drivers seat, and if not, we'll know what we need to do to get better."
